Palarong Pambata

The 22nd Pamaskong Pambata was all about giving the kids what they truly wanted – to play! It was a joyful event that allowed them to enjoy the camaraderie of a team and wear their team’s color while running and playing. It was made possible with the support of DOF Subsea Asia, Mapag- ampon Parish Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and an extensive list of individual sponsors.

Entitled ‘Palarong Pambata’, the event was held on December 8, 2024, at Santo Niño Village Covered Court with 223 children in participation. The children were so eager and excited that the chairs were replaced by energy and enthusiasm! Eight teams competed in 5 fun and challenging games facilitated by the SOJCFI scholars in a spirit of friendly competition. Top 3 teams with the most points were awarded as winners and were given prizes and medals. Team Yellow, led by Alyssa Joy, prevailed and was hailed as the Champions.

The Palarong Pambata was co-headed by Alyssa and Lea. This year, the core team took a fresh approach in marketing by expanding beyond just monetary donations. In addition to seeking financial support, we also requested tokens and prizes from individuals, and it certainly didn’t disappoint! We received overflowing in-kind donations including all the medals for the winners. As a result, our projected expenses were significantly reduced. Another key factor in this success was the presence of many visitors. We invited them to co-lead the teams, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the experience. This not only enhanced the event but also generated a lot of positive feedback from the visitors, many of whom were inspired to make donations after the event.

Other event highlights were the inspirational message from Fr. Sel Hernandez, the cheering competition, the distribution of gift packs, the performance of Jollibee and giving of snacks, the unlimited sorbetes ice cream, and the handing of noche buena packs to 184 families. We were able to yield PhP 187,000 revenue from this activity to finance the activities for 2025.

As we celebrate the joy and success of Pamaskong Pambata 2024, we are already looking ahead with excitement and hope. The Board of Trustees is now preparing to enter the planning stage for Pamaskong Pambata 2025, and we believe that with your continued support, we can make it even more meaningful for the children.
